And I live in warm, sunny Australia...
Although, it’s not feeling so warm and sunny this 21st June – the Winter Solstice of 2013.
Winter Solstice has many meanings and you can reference the widely accepted meanings from other pages on the internet. To me, Winter Solstice can be about hibernating until the next round of good times. It can also mean endings of the old – aka completion.
create fire. Times of tension can often create great creations. And the creation of fire has aided and brought about many other things, like cooking of food, social community around the camp fire, fabrication of tools, and deterrence of nuisance pests. Creating seems to aid more creating.
Another phrase comes to mind: the harsh reality of winter.
The key word is ‘reality’ rather than harsh. This is a time where it is perfect to view the reality of where you are in life. Sometimes the harsh truth. Think of tax time for business at the end of the financial year (during winter, at least here in Australia) – facing the reality of a good year gone by, or a bad one.
This Winter Solstice heralds the end of my set of intuitively heart-derived choices – which are usually renewed around every 6 months. To herald completion AND help the subconscious manifest more in my life, I also do a completion exercise – where the first question is: What have you created?
Before pondering this question, I was quite disappointed in the last 6 months of effort – there were things that I hadn’t completed yet. But intuitively stepping into the question “What have you created?” – I had the privilege of a wider view of reality.
It turns out there were many things to celebrate for the past 6 months. I have created in this period:
· Co-creation of an African dance flash mob in Surfer’s Paradise
· Completion of a 120 Day Do What You Love challenge (my 5th!) – being a healer, teacher, coach
· Beginning to learn Capoeira & acrobatics (Something I’ve wanted to do for a long time)
· A whole new understanding of marketing and business
· A ramping up of clients for my kinesiology & coaching business
· A health ebook (click here if you’d like to have a free copy)
· Preparation and booking of wedding plans
· Harmony & cohesion in my family like never before
· Facilitating transformational work for a group of like-minded souls on a monthly basis
· A feminine reconnection with my daughter
Sure, there were things that I didn’t complete but I realised from this exercise that I had a lot to celebrate. This is a reality that I often choose to ignore – and cheat myself out of the beauty & appreciation of my creative fire.
The most important thing that I created in the last 6 months is a new way of being – accepting the beauty of celebrating at the end of a creation – basking in acknowledgement of my own creative spirit. I can’t have given
myself a greater gift. It is true to say that the more energy and attention you put on your creative fire, the more energy and fire it has for future creations.
There a beautiful movie called “Happy, Thank You, More Please” – appreciating and celebrating your creations is like saying that to the universe and you inner creative spirit.
It’s your choice: you can choose to spend this winter in hibernation (hiding away and falling asleep to the reality of your creative nature) OR bask in the warmth of your creative fire. There is something very powerful with appreciating what you have created so far, no matter how small or big. Maybe reality can be a little harsh, but in the transformational work I’m involved in – we call it like a punctuation mark in life, ending the old sentence which automatically creates space for a new sentence. Freeing your subconscious up to create more.
Acknowledge what you’ve created so far in your life reinforces that you are a powerful creator. But more importantly, it’s just a beautiful gift to give yourself.
